Timely commentary on the air taxi industry is in short supply on the Internet.  One that stands out is Mark Fava's blog Air Taxi Industry Updates.  Actively involved in the work of the Air Taxi Association, Mark is tuned to what's going on, and his on-target observations and insights are an informative must-read.

His energy and enthusiasm was also evident in person as moderator of the "Legal & Safety Seminar for Air Taxis and VLJs" session at the Air Taxi Association's convention in Florida, January 2008.

Other blogs of interest: AirTaxiFlights.com Blog and Adam Webster's Aviation Marketing Intelligence.

So, where are we today with the "new" air taxi?  Dean Rotchin, CEO of Earthjet, speaking at the above mentioned convention says the defining term distinguishing new from the old is "affordable".  In the "most affordable" category are the Cirrus propellor parachute-plane operators like SATSair, OpenAir, ImagineAir, Skyline, AirQuest and advertised soon to begin Hopscotch Air (all US East), and BlueSky Taxi (Midwest), and Scanlon Aviation (West).  In the "more affordable" area are the Very Light Jet (VLJ) operators -- Dayjet (Southeast), Linear Air (East), North American Jet (Midwest), advertised soon to begin LimoJet (West) and Waypoint (West & Midwest), and POGO coming along later in the East. More are in the works.  Look for EarthJet, Skyway Air Taxi, NowJet, and ProntoJet in the future...things are happening.
